Getting There
Everyone over the age of 18 needs a valid, up to date photo ID (driver’s license, military ID, REAL ID or passport) for entry onto the Naval Academy Grounds.
Directions to the USNA Chapel through Gate 8:
* Take Route 50 East towards the Bay Bridge
* Take exit #24. Route 70 Rowe Blvd/Bestgate Road/Annapolis. Bear right. This will put you on Rowe Blvd. The Maryland State House will be in front of you.
* Turn left at second light. This is Taylor Avenue.
* Go through blinking light at the firehouse. Road comes to a stop sign, but you will not stop. As you bear right, get in left lane.
* Go through the light at King George Street. The next light is Gate 8. Turn right into the Naval Academy. Mention to the Sentry at the Gate you are the family/friends attending the funeral/committal of ________ (give name of deceased). After checking your photo Id your vehicle will be searched and they will allow you to drive in. (this could change if “threat condition” changes).
* Continue down Bowyer Road across the bridge. When you come to the stop sign you will turn right and then the next left where you will see the chapel in front of you.
Walking and Uber: Ubers will not be able to drive on the yard and will need to drop you off at a pedestrian entrance. Pedestrian entrances are available at Gate 1 on Randall & Prince George St and Prince George St at the Commodore John Barry Memorial. You should also be able to use Google maps to “Commodore John Barry Memorial” or “Randall and Prince George st“.
Parking for immediate family and handicapped cars is on the street with marked signs in front of the chapel. All other extended family and invited guests should park on the upper level of the parking garage. It’s located across from Alumni Hall on the right side after you have crossed the bridge and the parade field..
**Please check the USNA website for any changes to entry procedures as these are subject to change without notice**

Dining Ideas
Breakfast & Coffee
Iron Rooster - An Annapolis classic, right by the city dock, famous for homemade poptarts.
Lighthouse - Maddie’s favorite brunch, located on West St, great food and a heartwarming story.
Sofi’s Crepes - The go-to quick meal for Midshipmen for good reason, just outside of Gate 1.
Brown Mustache (Old Fox Books) - Great coffee inside of a cute bookstore on Maryland Ave, hard not to love!
Lunch & Dinner
Galway Bay - Irish pub with live music on Maryland Ave, attracts Maguires like moths to a flame for obvious reasons.
Federal House - An Annapolis institution, we especially recommend the cream of crab soup.
Chick & Ruth’s - Classic Main St. diner known for their giant milkshakes (truly giant... it’s 6lbs of shake).
Lemongrass - Our frequented Thai spot on West St. Poppy would suggest the Pad Thai.
Fox’s Den - Gastropub on Main St, duck fat fries are a must.
Luna Blu - Delicious Italian restaurant on West St.
Vin 909 - Wine bar and farm-to-table food in Eastport, in a cute cottage with lots of outdoor seating.
Dessert!
Red Bean - Make your own ice cream flavor at this Main St mainstay. Poppy’s favorite stop without contest.
